The Manual CATEX Model
2, 3, or 4 firing points at relatively short distances can be managed with a “manual” CATEX, where the driving force is operated with cranks. Many devices of this type are found in major ski resorts, such as Alpe d’Huez, Les Deux Alpes, Serre Chevalier, Courchevel, Auron, Les Arcs, etc. An ergonomic design allows pyrotechnicians to quickly address vulnerable areas during their PIDA rounds. The mechanics have been thoroughly studied to achieve optimal manual effort. Charges are positioned within plain view. The effectiveness of aerial explosions remains present to trigger avalanches, as with all CATEX systems.
